Socialized Medicine Nightmare in Britain - USA Beware

Tom Daschle, the erstwhile nominee for The U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services believes there should be a National Health Board which makes decisions based on outcomes and not on a doctor's advice. In short, if a drug is too expensive for an elderly patient who is near death anyway, the government would issue a resounding DO NOT TREAT. This story on the German DWTV program called European Journal, describes how a board similar to Daschle's vision operates in Great Britain's socialized medicine program called the National Health Service. @lilyiscute1 It's exactally the same in the UK, you have the NHS and if you want bells and whistles (which isn't necessary in a lot of cases) you have private healthcare and private healthcare insurance options. Whether the Swiss basic care is better than the I don't know, but if it was perfect then there wouldn't be a demand for private options QED. THe NHS conduct nearly 14 million hospital treatments each year. It takes a miniscual percentage of mishaps to fill a website of horror stories
