@LordGodofMercy The US did not see itself as an ally of any country until WW2. It was so isolationist no US government could have survived the next election if it had tried to enter WW2. US Admiral King was so Anglo-phobic he had to be told to curb has attitude towards his new ally. Henry Ford saw war as a danger to his company. After WW1 the US planned to become the worlds dominant naval power but Republican politicians created the Washington treaty instead to save money.
So, mardonius12345. These are serious efforts from the part of Japan.
Then, not only the fact that Japan was ready to peace before Aug 1945, there's another issue too.
How can you explain that even though the scientists of the Manhattan project recommended an uninhabited area from Japan to demonstrate the power of the a-bomb, the govt. of Truman dropped it into a city?
I'd say that the "product" had to be "tested" on a living target.
Google this - in quotes "We will do nothing but press on to the bitter end to bring about a successful completion of the war" .
That's Prime Minister Suzuki's public statement on July 30, after Japan had been warned of "utter destruction"
And yes, I am interested in hearing your references that Japan had realistic peace proposals - not a "defeat" where Japan gets to keep the countries it had invaded.
I have sources which testify repeated peace petitions from May to August 1945. They are first-hand sources presented in an article. Want me to quote them?

@mardonius12345 Christ Norton "Humanist" Aug 7 2005:
"It is my opinion that the use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima
and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan.
The Japanese were almost defeated and ready to surrender...in being the
first to use it, we...adopted an ethical standard common to the
barbarians of the Dark Ages."

Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during World War II
