catch - a straight 8 film by lyndy stout

the second of just two films from straight 8's 2009 cannes film festival selection. released for a limited time only in celebration of straight 8's incomparable london premieres at rushes soho shorts festival. catch, like all straight 8 films was made on a single cartridge of super 8 film without any post production or editing.

Cross my heart, there was absolutely no editing on this. straight 8 doesn't allow any opp for cheating as you shoot on cartridge and they process it. Sound is submitted separately. We were obsessed with counting the seconds of each frame. Dave Waters had drawn a storyboard which I later photographed and put into i-motion. I thought I was way out with the time codes but gave it to the musicians Joe Campbell and Paul Hart. it was a complete miracle and magical that it all synched up.
