Wasps are best dealt with in colder weather. They tend to stay in side there nest.

@david052856 Not if you mow the lawn, or do any amount of trimming near one of their nests. Oh, also if you make too much noise or move too quickly around one of their nests they get pissed and will sting the living shit out of you. EVEN if you left them alone. I would know, little fuckers have stung me a combined 20 times just mowing the lawn around them.

well they actually have a purpose, these bugs eat huge amounts of insects.
They will leave you alone if you do the same.

They appear to be V. germanica... must be an extremely huge colony. I might even say perennial... did you dig it up?

ok, what u do is put a vacuum by the nest, and video the wasp being swooped into the vacuum, its fun i tried it near my pond where there is a huge underground wasp nest.

i hate wasps they are scary fuckers, i often try not to sit near wasps nest and hope they never come over to me and sit on my hand or neck, very unfriendly creatures, i would lhate to have a wasps nest of my own in my bedroom

I wouldn't encourage yellow jackets to crawl on you... I think all would be OK until you tried to shake one off, and the agitation or even your fear might make them sting.
If you seriously like little flying critters, have a look at my other solitary bee videos... they are really cool, very gentle and with a some habitats you can make yourself (and no protective equipement as required for honey bees), you can raise them.
