Last night, Claire went to the Senate floor to call out the hypocrisy of those who supported an earmark ban last month, but requested and received earmarks in the 'omnibus' spending bill. Republicans tried to claim credit for killing the bill due to wasteful government spending, but Claire called them out on their participation in the bill, including millions of dollars in earmark requests. Claire opposed the bill because it did not include strict spending caps and because it included over 6,000 earmarks

  • Claire is such a fraud. She says no earmarks but votes for a trillion dollar stimulus and trillion dollar health care bill. Bye bye in 2012!

  • @PoliticalSkeptic - What a difference a month makes huh? It's true there was a poll that found support for the public option... However one month after those polls the story was very different.

  • @ovadose101 did you hear what Sen. Cornyn and Sen Thune said about the earmarks they requested? They admitted that they had requested the earmarks... but only because they were intending to vote against them! Didn't you guys sign an earmarks moratorium like last week? I was very surprised the GOP did not come up with a better talking point than that.. maybe they were surprised by the question? or just didn't have enough time to get the staff to assemble the proper communications..

  • @utubecenseorstruth so now, are you saying that the Democrats were trying to pass the Dream Act via Reconciliation? PLEASE provide the link to evidence of this. Of course, we both know you will not provide evidence, because you don't know what the hell you're talking about. so once again, please provide evidence of the Democrats trying to pass ANY legislation in the lame duck via Reconciliation! If you do this, I will be very grateful to you for giving me hope that the Democrats can fight!

  • Well done Senator. Call those lying bastards out. Sen McConnell has been on the Hill for many years. So now in order to pander to the Tea party, he doesn't like earmarks?? Give me a break. Same goes for another lame, Senator Thune from S.D., he wants his earmarks but condemned the omnibus bill. So these Republican Senators that are railing on earmarks, still want them on the down low. We will see if the "Fix" news will cover that.

  • @tyt12327 so basically dirty tricks are ok as long as they are with your side. By the way this was a link that was given in error. I actually was origionally commenting on the dream act. mccaskill has voted against bills like that in the past and held out during the vote to see if she could get away with voting no. She voted yes and i hope the people of missouri remember it. I especially want her to tell out of work blacks and union members ( democrat go to guys) that they voted against them

  • @utubecenseorstruth i guess you couldn't find the news article supporting your point? not surprising, because the idea of the Democrats trying to pass this bill via reconciliation without it making big headlines is... inconceivable. It would obviously be well-known, because it would be a rare occurance. For the record, I wish the Democrats would have used reconciliation during HCR to get a Robust Public Option in the Bill. Ohwell, maybe next time.. :-(

  • @utubecenseorstruth Um. America wanted the PUBLIC OPTION. Since you are going by "polls". And they took the Public Option out of the bill thus making the bill unpopular. So if you are upset that the Americans got a Bill they did not want you should be upset that when the PUBLIC DID WANT THE BILL they didnt pass it as it was. They took the things the public supported out of the bill and THEN they didn't want it. And this has nothing to do with this recent omnibus bill.

  • @utubecenseorstruth So are you saying that the Senate Democrats were trying to pass this budget bill via reconciliation? If that is the connection you are referencing, then please provide the news link, so I can take a read. If this is not the connection you are talking about, please clarify. Seriously, I read your last post a few times and I'm doing my best to understand your writing..

  • @tyt12327 do i really need to answer that? 11/2/2010? America did not want this. Scottt brown was elected because mass did not want this. The house then decided to use a dirty trick called reconcilliation to give obama a win and it costs many their jobs like blanche lincoln. it will probably cost mccaskill her job and i guarantee it will with the dream act. Obama is not very popular in most decent areas of the country. Even an obamacare supportin should see the evil of the way it passed
