This is part of Apple's keynote on March 17, 2009 regarding the release of the new iPhone/iPod Touch($9.99) operating system: iPhone OS 3.0. This is only one of many new features to come to the iPhone in the summer of 2009.

For Developers - Allow users to purchase content or services from your application using the Store Kit framework. This new framework handles the financial aspects of the transaction, processes payment with the iTunes Store, and provides your application with information about the purchase.

Its not that bad....I mean it's not as exciting as they build it up to be but it does make life ALOT easier.

  • You don't get charged if you redownload it on your computer. You do however get charged if you redownload it on you iphone/ ipod touch. This is to prevent things such as people from going to their friends house signing into their friends account and then downloading an expensive app for free because it says that account has already payed for it.

  • you dont get charged. when you buy any app you can always redownload it for free. it's really useful. i wish they did that for songs and movies and stuff...

  • its not thaaat bad

  • You won't get charged if its an application from the app store. I'm not sure, but apparently, if you want to re-download the app from the iPhone / iPod touch itself, it will cost you but from the computer, it's free. The reason it will cost you when downloading from the device itself is due to the multiple itunes account handling on 3.0 firmware. They don't want you to log into, say your friends account and then download all the apps he bought onto your device for free.

  • anybody know if I buy an application and I intentionally delete that application, and then if I wanna download the same application which deleted, do I get charged of doing it? please anyone tell me... thanks..

  • It's not suprising. We iPhone owners must pay a monthly fee as well as the iPhone's price itself, the iPhone 8gb is almost 3x the price of an 8gb iPod touch, at least here in Australia. But like R3APER24 says, don't fear there are other ways around it, just like updating a 1.0 iPod touch to 2.0.

  • I dont like spotlight in Iphone. I think it ruins the simplicity of the home screen. I respect your opinion if you disagree.
