NEW YORK The number 7 train is nicknamed the International Express for many immigrant communities it connects as it chugs daily from the heart of Manhattan into Flushing, Queens.
In 2000, it was named one of the National Millennium Trails (link http://clinton2.nara.gov/Initiatives/Millennium/trails_doc.html). According to the former First Lady Hilary Clinton, the Millennium Trails initiative supports routes that tell the story of the American nation.
The story line 7 tells is the story of the immigrant America a country built by the dreams and hard work of newcomers. We asked seven of route 7 commuters to share their journeys with us. Where did they come from? What did they hope to find? And what does New York City their adopted home mean to them?
