This aria is a bass-baritone nightmare. Rossini should've been shot for his choice of "parole" on this one. Such noble msic and such awful latin vowels in all the wrong places. Ruggiero is great...but almost no one can navigate this vowel nightmare and make it beautiful. Bravo.

@mauricedelacroix This is Rossini's Stabat Mater. You mean the Verdi's Requiem, and the rendition you are speaking of is really a beautiful one, but this is totally another thing.

This requiem was performed by : Ruggero Raimondi, Martina Arroyo, Placido Domingo and Josephine Veasey, St. Paul Cathedral, London. Conducted by Leonard Bernstein in the year of 1970.
