HEY ! With VLC you cannot stream over Internet, at least not as long as you do not have some super-duper-upload-speed. That's where a slingbox comes in!
How did you set the remote settings in slingplayer ?

Hmm .. Nice, but you know you don't need a Slingbox to watch streaming TV from your DBOX :) You can just use VLC and theres a dbox controller you can get for mac and pc, also you can watch two different channels at the same time if their on the same frequency.
