A look at how to wrap a nostepinne. More info on how to start the process can be found on my blog at http://blog.designedlykristi.com/?p=335

  • Nice to see- Had no clue before! but still glad I have a ball winder! This would be nice for small amounts of handspun though- THX!

  • Thanks shedata! I just got the nostepinnes for Christmas from my FIL. So far I've mostly used it to re-ball left over sock yarn and smaller lots of handspun too.

  • Great to watch this - but for a beginner it's not helpful as I don't know how to start. I used the description that came along with my nostepinne but my balls turn out to be american footballs - which you can't store one upon another.

How do I get to this stadium of a ball? There's nothing here on youtube.

  • They are hard to find. Most yarn shops I've found do not have them and do not even know what they are. A nostie makes a nice center pull ball of yarn once you get the hang of it. My grandson thinks they are wizard wands.

  • Wow... I never saw a nøstepinne like this. I guess it must be Norwegian/Scandinavian, because of the name (I guess it is spelled with an "o" instead of the "ø" in English-speaking countries). Seems to be a quite tedious job to wind (nøste) using it, but the ball looks exactly like the one my yarn winder makes. Never realized that you can do these manually too... Neat! :)

  • it's my understanding that you you're supposed to get something like that, so it doesn't collapse on itself while knitting. could be wrong about that though...

  • Thanks so much.

  • Thanks for you video, I do not have a ball winder but I have a stick like what you are using, and now I can use it.

  • Thank you!
