  • it's called corona wind. Caused by the discharge into the air. The flame is being blown by the ions released

  • It's a risk I'm willing to take to have friends far away from me

  • Place a piece of paper between the wire and the flame and bet the flame movement will stop. The 'ion wind' actually moves the air, as demonstrated by the blade-less fans made by Dyson and fan-less air purifiers. As the air molecules become negatively charged (become ionized) they repel and move away from each other.

  • same effect with pyrokenesis from the body

  • the effect is called draft...

  • it looks like someone... ahem, passed wind

  • @Taylaron1 I see what you're saying. What is happening here is not a field effect but rather corona wind. You can produce an effect on a flame with an electric field not caused by corona wind.

  • @kdvlder exactly my point! you cant!

  • @Taylaron1 how can you have fire in a vacuum?

  • @cheeseboat15 It should be noted that the corona wind is established above a certain voltage. Below the onset of corona discharge, the interaction is based on flame by-product ions and electric field.

  • @JerryGiesler09 my thoughts exacley
