I think a 5 spd G5 GT with light mods could keep up with a GTP. My 2.4 auto Cobalt with light mods pulled on a GP GT 97-03 body stlye. And the auto's are typically half a second slower in the 1/4. Obviously once modded the GTP will land on the G5 Gt mod for mod.

@notrueface In Drive theres no sweet spot. GM electronics on newer vehicles do allow a slightly higher redline when the auto is in L or I but no difference from a dig in drive. Plus newer drive by wire systems in the GM's will cut throttle if you try to bring the car up on the convertor. Not to mention theres ramp rates for how fast and how far the throttle body will open even when the vehicle is floored it might not be fully floored.

@DOHCCordia WRONG. GM's electronic Throttles are way too smart to simply "floor it and hope for the best", they have sweet spots that every vehicle must find.

@cowboyman197 ya fro some reason my gtp with just exhaust kept up to the newer mustangs and theres no way a g5 would keep up to my gtp not a chance i wouldnt even race one but on the other hand my gtp is atleast a second faster in the quarter mile than my brothers gtp and his is a year older an 02

A stock gtp vs a 5spd g5 gt and this is pretty much what you will get. The fastest stock 2.4 cobalts are running high 14's. Which is what the G5 GT is. And bad driving? its a damn auto. keep it floored and dont lift lol
