These are the drippings from what my Catch Can collected! The UNUSED oil would otherwise be displaced in all different parts of my engine... causing sludge build up and getting burnt up and old.

  • Just bought bsh catch can .. I had the bsh pcv block off plate before but my car didn't like it.. my exaust would puff out white non thick smoke from my exaust now and then .. no idea why.. everything was sealed off.. hopeully the catch can fixes this , if not oh well ill be driving it with the smoke

  • @Tuscani011 Yes you have to block off the port which is located on the farthest hole to the RIGHT when you are facing it. The middle port is for the outgoing hose (to the catch-can), and the farthest hole to the LEFT while facing it is the "inlet" port FROM the catch-can. Make sure your hoses make sense on the catch-can too. The hose FROM the engine outlet port goes to the bottom of the catch-can while the inlet hose FROM the catch-can to the hole on the left should go on the top of the can.

  • How is you catch can hooked up? When I first made and installed mine on my mustang I had one hose hooked up to the passenger side valve cover and the other hose hooked up to my intake manifold, this way the can had a large amount of vacuum when off of the gas, the after market valve covers also didnt come with baffles so it was filling my catch can almost in 3 days. Annoying considering I had to check it that often or else if it filled up it would suck down all that oil in one gulp... :\

  • @rd95stang Mine replaced the unreliable PCV valve (it was removed and omitted). So both hoses come off the manifold port... one is the outlet from the manifold port... the one coming off the catch can goes back into the inlet port. Also one of the ports was covered over and blocked off. But VW's are probably different.

  • do catch cans come stock on the MK5 GTI's?

  • @snowpimpin No I had a guy that used to make these custom... and I bought it from him. It will not void your warranty... but it omits your Faulty operating PCV valve all together. Sometimes that valve stuck closed and did not function properly... This catches all that displaced oil that doesn't get used in your engine. I just emptied it yesterday again and got 1.25 bottles of it. People preferred to buy $400 dollar name brand ones... so he stopped making them. Mine works just great and cost $160

  • Can you link me to the catch can you found online? I've always wondered where all that oil was going in my '06 Jetta 2.0T! Thanks for letting me know!
