These little guys live on my roof. Yes, my roof. There are 5 kittens and a momma kitty. There were 6 kittens but my landlord adopted one of them. The rest won't let anyone near them. I found out one day that they like to play with the laser, apparently. It was pretty amusing, so I caught some video of it. I'm afraid to call a shelter or animal control on them (loud as they are) because I'm afraid they'll be put down. But they do amuse me so much. I almost don't think I'd know what to do without their constant noise above me.


**UPDATE**
The kittens have since left. The landlord put chicken wire on the shed and wall they were using to get on the roof. They don't like chicken wire because they can't steady themselves on it to well. So the kittens have moved on and I'm glad we didn't have to resort to trapping them and sending them to a shelter where they would likely have been put down.
I do hear/see them around my house from time to time and they are growing and well.

And now I've moved recently so I know I will never ever get to do this again.

You do know that some shelters are no-kill right? You could have called around and asked... It would be much better for them to not be living on the street and be in a shelter where they'll get spayed/neutered and taken care of.

I know that but the only way to have trapped them would have been inhumane. We tried humane traps and they didn't work. If you read the side story, they have since left and I see them on occasion around my property and they are doing fine.

Aside from that, most no-kill shelters will charge a fee to abandon animals. A $20 fee times 6 is a lot of money that I don't have.

Cats are surprising creatures, they can fend for themselves very well. They aren't exactly helpless you know.

You'd be surprised at how easily it is to trap a cat.

And no, they can't fend for themselves from cars. And now they're all going to have kittens and the population of unwanted animals will go up.

And most shelters will take them even if you don't have money. Just explain that to them. Or you could have took them in yourself and gave them away. Everybody wants kittens. My husband and I just rescued two from his work and gave one away in 2 days.

You don't seem to understand- these cats wouldn't let anyone near them. I couldn't have trapped them and I couldn't get them on the roof either. Believe me, we tried.

However, it is not just one person's fault for the out of control population. It's not mine either for not being able to catch these little guys.

Don't play the blame game just to have someone to blame for a problem that is no one person's fault.
