CNN Report on Talk Radio and the Fairness Doctrine

In the third of a three-part series of reports on talk radio, CNN looks at the Fairness Doctrine, and how conservative talk "boomed" as a result.

It also looks at how giant radio conglomerates like Clear Channel do not program enough "localism" on their radio stations.

Also, Kiran Chetry asks Carol Costello to respond to comments Rush Limbaugh made about her on his radio show. "He claims that you're a stalker," Chetry says. Costello says "many people... like my reports... In my mind, that means I'm doing my job."

You don't need a law. Radio stations will only broadcast something that brings in $. That's why formats and personalities change so much. It's called the free market and if people don't listen they'll bring in something new.

Supa:Where did I classify You as anything? Rush is funded by advertising dollars like all entertainment. Liberals do better w/ minorities because Libs run education, pop culture, etc.,and classify them as 'victims', rather than capable human beings.Giving a bigger piece of pie should be due to merit not race and minorities have plenty of merit without liberal patronizing.The hatred I spoke of is the venom toward conservatives. No question that dems have huge problems, like being puskatores, but all these tea baggers/conservatives/republic­ans refuse to acknowledge that fact that David Frum, you know, one of their own, said that they work for fox (news) and not visa versa. It's amazing seeing all these anti-fairness posters running scared over am radio shows, none of which I can find left wing. Been reading posts for years that left wing radio is dead and it's true. Is it any wonder that the right is going offensive on Loughner despite no causal connection?
