Power IS restricted in the lower gears. maximum power is available to enable you to sustain 56mph all the time once you are up to speed. the drivetrain could not handle the stress of 3500nm in 1st gear. you'd end up frying the clutch, twisting the prop, snapping halfshafts etc. It's true, I've read the brochure.

@Scoobmeister In most modern trucks peak torque is cut back in lower gears.If you didn`t limit torque in lower gears especially this much you would likely trash your drive tyres in about a month as well as putting extreme strain on your driveline.High torque is attained in higher gears to maintain motorway speed only

this truck is impressive. torque maximized in the top gears where you need it to pull all day. no need for it in the lower gears. thats why there are multi speed transmissions to get you going. if you don't drive these things you'll have no idea how much damage high torque down low is. would love to have one of these engines to run across Canada.

Ok, so maybe the Scania doesn't have 3550 torque in all gears, it's still a fucking beast. I wish Detroit Diesel would drop the delirious 60 and look at this Scania engine. If they can afford the fuel in Europe then what's the problem. All of you can argue here on Youtube, but there's nothing coming from Detroit, Cummins or cat thay gets even close.

If you tried to put the full fat 3500NM of torque through low gears you'd actually sheer bolts, a gearbox multiply's torque. Im surprised the R730 even needs a gearbox with all that torque!!

well regardless of you lot arguing, if one is offered to me for my job would rather have it than one of the renaults or Iveco's I currently have to drive.

Scania have and always will produce fine trucks.

Anyone got me one??
