Very helpful. This reminds me of how the Sony pocket reader handles PDFs.

great review thanks. The pdf reader isnt perfect and this is the thing thats been holding me off buying an e reader but this is pretty acceptable now I think I could live with one now.

@ramivei AFAIK, yes. I think there may be some features that end up lost in translation (newest ones, more likely), but text, images, etc will work OK.

@iytenorio84 hey there, does this service works on all pdfs automatically?
-
@Amaguqas Relax, go to calibre-ebook(dot)com and download the converter. it works perfect for my kindle 4. then you can change the font size etc.

@Triangulove I'm sorry, I don't know... I've read manga in my Kindle 3rd gen, but these came directly from JPG, not PDF. Best advice, keep looking for a good review...

How do images end up looking? That is very important to me that images look alright after the conversion process. They don't have to look perfect, but as long as you can tell what you're looking at.

@Triangulove AFAIK (which is not that much), yes, you can convert any PDF to kindle format via the e-mail automatic service. It doesn't matter who created the document or how. BTW, there are ways to extract content, you know. IMO though, the resulting documents doesn't look any appealing... It's just an automatic conversion. Sure you will be able to read the text, but you yourself could do a better job if you had enough time + the correct editor (maybe Calibre...?).

I have about 300 pdf files from various of my favorite authors, like carl jung, whitley strieber, joseph campbell, etc, and none of them are available as public domain titles. I don't want limited selection. I want the ability to transfer any and all PDF files at will.

But those, with their backlit displays, are not as light on the eyes.

Are you payed by amazon? How can you say it's not that big of a deal to have to re-align the page every time your turn the page.
Somehow after 200 times doing it I think even the most patient of people would start to find it annoying.

Dude, Amazon does provide you with a way to convert your pdf's to the common kindle format. I don't know why you didn't mention it at all, and I don't like it.
PS: to convert pdfs, send the file to your @kindle.com email, subject must be "convert" w/o quotes, and that's it, you can get your book on your kindle via wifi whenever you want.
