not really, civilians understandably get jail time for guns, but the JSDF has the right to use weapons, just as the SAS does.

airsoft originated in japan because they wanted to emulate america, but couldn't get guns... so they had to do the best they could.

Not true, japan has always had an interest in firearms, since they got them from the Portuguese. In fact firearms have been a big part of Japanese history.
