  • Do you have any footage of Dick Brannan's 1966 crash at 131?

  • @M78drivein No, I missed that one. I've seen pictures of that wreck. That was bad!

  • You just made my day!! Ran across this video... lookin for stuff from Martin, and MY DAD is on your video!!! "RUFF-N-REDDY" I was at Martin when i was 3 weeks old til about 3yrs old... but never remember watching my Dad race... THANK YOU!!! Showed this to Mom and Dad today( Mom was his tow car in a Yellow Dodge Dart) They LOVED it too, as well as everyone around here that remembers Ruff-n-Reddy, and the drags at Martin back then :)

  • @kibbiegirl1 I'm sure glad that you found my video! I can honestly say that of all the local racers back then "RUFF-N-READY" was my favorite! Me and my friends used to cheer for that car every time we saw it run! Thanks for watching and spreading the word!

    John

P.S. You can see another clip of "RUFF-N-READY" on my video "Gassers At 131 Dragway in the "60S"

  • awsome vids dude, wish all the so called younger generation "so called car guys" would watch these vids and see what real hot rodders drove. loved it

  • @98dakrt Things were certainly different back then. Crude, but very exciting!! Thanks for tuning in to check out my videos!

  • Great stuff! So glad that someone was recording it. Like so many of us, I spent all my time at the strips without a thought to shooting the history around me. I did a little bit better in southeast Asia a couple of years later, but I sure do regret missing out on capturing the essence of drag racing here in the south. Thanks for the great job.

  • @jaialaisavant completely agree

  • Great film! I grew up in SoCal and, from 1964 until I was drafted (Vietnam) in 1969 I lived at Lions, Irwindale, OCIR, Fontana and Pomona. This stuff takes me back to some of the most enjoyable years of my life. Drag racing, back then, was all about guys working 40 hour a week jobs and then towing their cars (which they kept in someone's garage next to the washer & dryer) out for the weekend. Even Top Fuel operated that way ~ guys trying to make the $500-$1,000 Top Fuel money.

  • john you hit another home run with this video keep them comin tuffycanner

  • @98dakrt - I'm a younger generation car guy and I love this stuff : )

  • @canzoet took the words right of my mouth. i was born 50 years to damn late
