Will Phillips appeared on CNN Monday morning with his father, Jay, to discuss his refusal to say the pledge of allegiance.

"I've grown up with a lot of people and I'm good friends with a lot of people who are gay and I think they should have the rights all people should, and I'm not going to swear that they do," the ten-year-old Phillips said.

  • I hope that kid has a life filled with nothing but good fortune. He deserves it after having the guts to do that at such a young age.

  • @Andrew223a I don't care about what religion you follow but marriage shouldn't strictly be between a male and a female. The whole "sanctity of marriage" is a load of rubbish. I'm sure some Christians would be utterly revolted by gay marriage but to divorce would turn a blind eye.

  • Funny, when I was 10 I thought gays and girls were "icky".

This kid has guts and learns to respect others, something that is not even seen by someone thrice his age. Hope he nails some hot chick and gets rich or some other awesome life in the future.

  • anyone else notice the Scottish accent.

  • Respect to this kid.

  • Nice to see a 10-year old can see the bigger picture.

  • Awesome, if only everyone would protest the fact that the Americas are not following their own codes of ethics. I wish I could make an impact like this in Canada, as we watch our prime minister pass bill after bill that me and the majority of Canada (including the prime ministers own advisors). I've heard talk of mass populations just deciding to refuse to be a part of Canada anymore... What's it going to take to align the priorities of government with the priorities of the people. - Jesse

  • I'd be proud to be this boy's mother.

  • @foxracingyo if there is a hell, ill see you there. cheers.

  • You're an ass. You don't want to know where I want to kick you.

  • @aaronkempster1: He i not "trying" to come off as intelligent, he is intelliget, and he nailed it! When I have a kid I hope he is as intuitive and intelligent as this kid. He said he wants to be a lawyer, and I don't doubt that he will be.
