I don't mind either term. A geek is someone with very specific knowledge about a limited subject which they can use in a practical application. For me this is computers (Mac, Windows and Linux)

A nerd is someone with very specific knowledge about a limited subject which has no practical application. For me this is my knowledge of Star Trek.

As I fit into both categories I'm not annoyed when people class me as one or the other.
