During my year in Sweden I built a trappertrail based on my experiences on Vässarö and the book "Camp Life in the Woods". We built a bear trap. To be clear: no bear was harmed! No scouts ... Just me by
all the mosquitoes that drank my blood during the week it took me too build it.

  • Dude an expert survival teacher already told me this thing doesn't work i mean, how much weight do i need to get on you before you die ? maybe 200 pounds? well bears are extremely more powerful than humans you'd have to get A LOT of weight on those logs ! could you please make a video with a bear actually getting caught?

  • Well, the idea is that you hit the bear in the neck/skull so it dies more or less instantly.

The trap as seen here is not complete yet. It has to be weighed down with big rocks. We tried it bit it's way to dangerous to set it of then.

  • She's one of my volunteers at Scout Camp Ransberg where we built this trap. It was a part of a the Trapper Trail. She's also the sister of a very good Swedish friend of mine.

  • That wasn't the point. If you want to do it fast you take rifle I guess.

  • i think by the time the bear gets far enough inside the enclosed area and trips the trap, the log will hit the bear on the ass. not going to kill it. also, the entire log should fall at the same time .... not one end first and then the other at a slant.

  • You honestly think that little log is going to kill a bear?

  • wow

  • LOL

  • Its good ,its the right way . I nail wooden spikes to the falling log and they are correct ,they would add weight in a real time sit.

  • @hellotherehumane

Euhm I think you are totally missing the point here. No bear or any other animal was heart. This is a historical experiment. Would this trap have worked.?

  • @dinnerandashow Yes, but I use bear traps from Victor, they are better, I buy them out USA.

  • Not on neck. On back, break back , break ribs crush lungs .

Bear can't move, can't breath, dies soon.

Deadfall log longer, more logs on top, more logs other way at right angles too.

Pile rocks on top other logs.

Squash big black bear like big black fly.

    Bear food then.

  • You have right, you must have enough weight to kill a bear. When the trap hit the bear good, he will die. But it don't work always. I make them smaller to catch fox and marten, that works good

  • ok... yes in the neck will kill instantly but i still have doubts :P I'd like to try it out someday.
