Please help, I don't have a slot, but only 3.0 usb. I'm trying to connect my digidesign 003 firewire (from USB to firewire. I bought the adapter but it does not work. Is there an external system? my old cpu had a pci slot. This is the fastest dell, brand new but no slot. Thanks man.

I understand your predicament, is this a brand new laptop or desktop?

If it is laptop it would be impossible because there's no expansion system that would connect to laptop via USB port. But if you have a desktop computer you can use the 1slot expansion system to house your firwire and connect the expansion system to desktop computer using a PCI host card that plugs into a pci slot of a motherboard

  • Hello . im a guitar player and i want to get a firewire audio interface to help me recording. i use a pc Acer aspire , operating system W7. the laptop doesnt have a a firewire port. can i use expess adapter? and if i did , does W7 support using firewire adapted ? cuz i guess it doesnt support it anyway but i need to get sure. thx for the tutorial :)

If the laptop has an expresscard slot, you don't need to use an expresscard adapter to hook up the expansion unit to it. If the laptop has a pcmcia slot you can still hook up the expansion unit by using a cardbus card. All you need is to swap the expresscard with the Magma cardbus card.

  • Is it possible to perform with a Expresscard 34?

  • @HandphoneCharger

Yes, you can subtitute the pcmcia card with expresscard34. But you have to use the ec34 made by Magma. If you use a non Magma expresscard34 it is not going to work.

Using this method would it be plasuable to do this but use an ide connector or an alternate way of connecting said expansion ? Any help is appreciated =]
