When our second roomba battery died, I managed to replace the dead cell with one from first battery that failed. I also bought a set of 12, 2200mAh NiMH Sub-C Cells to put into the second failed pack as a new unit. Gives double the runtime (and double the charge time).

Only do something like this if you are SURE you can live without any warranty, or you have no warranty left to care about. Just because I've done this, doesn't mean you have to :)

@muthaw Yeah the cost of replacing the battery cells for better ones is less than buying an original unit. Mine is still going strong and running for double the time :)
