Fastbacks "Waste of Time"

The Fastbacks were a pioneering Seattle band. Formed in 1979 by songwriter/guitarist Kurt Bloch (born August 28, 1960), and friends Lulu Gargiulo (guitar and vocals, born October 12, 1960) and Kim Warnick (bass and vocals, born April 7, 1959), they disbanded in 2001. Their sound mixed a generally punk approach to vocals and sound textures with poppy tunes and strong musicianship.

God, I love this song. This album was my entire senior year in high school. I remember hearing the fastbacks play live on one of pearl jam's pirate radio sessions (I think in '94?) and being blown away. This is the first time seeing the video and god it's great to hear!

No, that's Dan Peters, the drummer for Mudhoney (Matt Lukin is/was the bassist for Mudhoney). Fastbacks is famous for having twenty-something drummers over their career and many Seattle-area drummers have at least filled in over the years. Dan Peters is one of those drummers. I think that's Nate Johnson at 2:14 and at 0:56 you can see Jason Finn (drummer for Love Battery and POTUSA). Mike Musbeger is probably in there somewhere (I saw them play here in Montreal with Musberger).

Hell yeah for the Fastbacks. Good to know Alternative was bad ass one day. Like everything though, it comes to an end.
