This is something I worked out while randomly playing some other songs... I love it when that happens! :) It's what jam sessions, even solo training, is all about. ...That's where life's at! ;) (My new phrase copyright (C) Chris Masters 2009, feel free to use and abuse it frequently. ;) Cos that's where life's at! ;)
I usually leave dedications to the end, but this has a flow... This is dedicated to my wiser and often unseen older brother, Nick. Whom without him, I probably wouldn't have gotten into acoustic music as much as I have now... or maybe I would have, and it's destiny. But Nick, the Enigma, ChiggaMahNickaa, helped in my formative years to build my taste in acoustic music, introducing me to DMB, John Mayer before he became famous, and songs like this, with acoustic flavor, or acoustic remixes like Time After Time (amazing).
Also, I didn't know the history to this song, always thinking it's about a relationship, a loving wife, or co-habituating girlfriend... but watching Rob Thomas' explanation and doing some research, it's about the singer's Mum (!!!), from the perspective of 12 year old Rob Thomas, during his mom's struggle with cancer. Wow. That makes a new spin. Love the new and old interpretations. :)

Proper chords are: G C9 D
This song is 3am, originally by Matchbox 20.
3AM by Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20)
Cover by Chris Masters
Verse 1:
She say it's cold outside and she hands me my raincoat [My favorite first line. Shows love.]
She's always worried about things like that
She says it's all gonna end and it might as well be my fault
And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams and her voice is straining
Chorus:
She says baby
It's 3 am I must be lonely
When she says baby
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes
Says the rain's gonna wash away I believe it
Verse 2:
She's got a little bit of something, God it's better than nothing
And in her color portrait world she believes that she's got it all
She swears the moon don't hang quite as high as it used to
And she only sleeps when it's raining
And she screams and her voice is straining
Chorus.
Verse 3:
She believes that life is made up of all that you're used to
And the clock on the wall has been stuck at three for days, and days [Reason #3 for "3am"]
She thinks that happiness is a mat that sits on her doorway [My favorite line.]
But outside it's stopped raining
Chorus. [end]
.: Brrrh! It's cold in here! There must be some Masters in the atmosphere! I said... (repeat :) :.
This only took 2 takes. About 5 minutes after figuring out this song goes with the chords. I have a bad (or good?) habit of making quick videos without actually practicing or polishing or making it presentable. ;p So in my opinion it still sucks... but shows potential! :)
Give me a few months of residual training, or one good night's practice, and it'll be hectic!! It'd be one pretty piece of music worth presenting. ;)
1 43 you. Thanks for reading/watching! -c!... x

Not too shabby bro, seen much worse. Feels like you're pushing the words along at times. I've been playing since I was 12, 24 now. In that time one thing I have learned is that you have to let the song do what it does. I give it a 3 with a 5 for potenial.
