The song is "Sealwoman/Yundah" by Mary Mclaughlin all the art is from the Deviant Art web site and you can find it by typing in "Selkie" in their search tool. For those who do not know a Selkie comes from the Celtic legend of seal like spirits able to assume human form. Always torn between land and the sea because the sea will always be her first nature. The lyrics go as follows...

Over the waves you call to me
Shadow of dream, ancient mystery
Oh how I long for your sweet caress
Oh how I long for your gentleness

Torn between sea mists and solid land
Nights when I've ached for a human hand
I'll come to you when the moon shines bright
But I must go free with the first streak of light

Over the waves you call to me
Shadow of dream ancient mystery
Oh how I long for your sweet caress
Oh how I long for your gentleness

  • To learn more about the Selkie Legend is on Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia. It mentions more about the selkie legends and it's origins.

  • @Ladymouse36 Thanks so much for the suggestions about learning more on the legends of Selkies!

  • I keep The Daughter of Lir in my vehicle's CD carousel pretty much permanently. She has a unique songwriting/arranging style I like very much, as well as her singing. I like this one very much and Silhouettes is a very good cut from that album also, I think.

  • @davegammaleonis Well, This particular song has a sound that is really unusual. The harmony is amazing.

  • I've listened to Mary for some time and I never tired of her. Mary McLaughlin and Maire Brennan are my two most favorite Celtic style singers.

  • @davegammaleonis Yes they both have the voices of Angels.
