Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- An election for local people's assemblies is now going on throughout the DPRK.

Sub-constituency No. 93 of Constituency No. 57 in Pyongyang is crowded with voters ranging from old men and women to young people taking part in election for the first time.

Kim Yong, chairman of the election committee, told KCNA that the election is of weighty significance as it is being held when all the Korean people have turned out in the effort for glorifying the hundred-year history of Kim Il Sung's Korea.

Kang Sang O, an 80-year-old man residing in Saemaul-dong No.1, Phyongchon District, said, "We are really grateful to the government for setting up the people as masters of the country and guaranteeing happiness of all generations to come. So, we are casting ballots for the candidates we elected".

Hong Su Ran, a 17-year-old student of Pyongyang University of Surgery, who takes part in voting for the first time, said:

"I am very happy to participate in election for people's assemblies. I will devote all my effort to upholding the people's power out of civil duties".

Kim Song Un, a candidate for deputy to the Pyongyang City People's Assembly, said, "I will contribute to the country's economic development and faithfully serve for the people, true to the leadership of Kim Jong Il for the building of a thriving nation". -0-

  • @Jason198261 They aren't real elections. There's no choice of whom to vote for. One votes for the pre-selected candidates or none at all. And if one doesn't vote for the candidate then one will be punished.

  • @MrJohnnyJoyce they just progress more slowely come on now. let em be all slow.
