This is a scan of the offerings on DVB-T Digital TV in Melbourne, Australia around 9:15pm on 9th June 2009.

This is an SD recording from a HD Set Top Box. Firstly, I scan through the TV channels, and then the 4 Radio Channels on DVB-T. Channels featured are ONE HD, TEN, ONE Digital, ABC1, ABC2, SBS1, SBS2, 7 Digital, 7 HD, Nine Digital, Nine HD, ABC DIG Radio, ABC DIG Jazz, SBS Radio 1, SBS Radio 2 (among other useless duplicate stations!) I have waited for station watermarks to appear before moving on.

C31 Melbourne is only available in Analog at present, so is not featured. However, the local Amateur TV Repeater - VK3RTV -has just run a Digital Test, and will be changing over to Digital full time soon. (See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD--ZLmTfLQ for a video)

UPDATE: There are a couple of things wrong with this video:-
1. The clock shown is wrong - as I forgot to adjust it for Standard Time from Summer Time (setting in the STB menu)
2. The SBS channel names are out of date - they have changed slighly - SBS is now SBS ONE and SBS 2 is now SBS TWO. (Sorry, should have rescanned before recording!)
3. Nine HD is missing - don't know why - it's back now! It should be on channel 90.

I will do another scan showing the updates at some stage.

  • You might notice that my clock is incorrect - there is a setting on the box for Daylight Saving adjustment - and I forgot to fix it! Also, I didn't do a rescan first so some of the channel names might be out of date.

  • can the hd channels work on old school standard tvs?

  • You need to buy a HD Set Top Box, and it can output the signal to a standrard tv through the video inputs. For a TV without inputs, you can get some boxes that will convert the signal into a TV signal, but these are hard to find.

  • Isn't the network supposed to update the clock time automatically when DST starts and end? DST began almost 2 weeks ag as you know, and believe it or not, it took about a week for the clock on my parents' PIECEOF SHIT Strong set top box to adjust itself, even though I completely powered down and restarted the box several times during the week.

  • thanks!

  • Hmm interesting how much of Aussie TV is real HD nowadays ?
