    The stress is not taken away from the triceps from this movement. The answer to your question is a simple matter of physics and biomechanics. The further the elbow moves away from the belly button, the more long head activation you get out of your triceps. That said, the additional movement included in this exercise will do well to attack the triceps from beginnning to end.

  • Shouldn't you keep your elbows from moving, it takes the stress off your tricep
