Being straight is seen as "normal," a "good thing." When people say "That's so gay" and "No homo," it sends the message that being gay is bad.. So, when people feel that it's ok to be who they are, without judgement, that's why they tell those they care about that they're *insert identity.*

@lcowles ...Everybody (in that situation) has their own way of dealing with this delicate & often very scary/complicated task. I am (+ surely thousands others) are very thankful to those brave dudes who post this so publicly! Can't you see how helpful+inspiring+supportive it is 2see how others handled this... and to see live what kind of response they got? Just look at all the 'thank you' comments on those videos!
'Live' makes it so much more realistic than just telling the story :-)
