This is a test for the notorious Focus Problem that the GoPro HD faces, when filming underwater using the original housing. You can see that although the scenery seems preety nice, when you close up on objects they are clearly out of focus.
The GoPro staff are aware of the problem and they claim they are trying to find a way to slove it, mainly by changing the curved lens from the housing.
There is a housing with flat lens from eyeofmine.com which they claim solves the problem. [Testing by me Pending]
The first part of the film is small demonstration (in 2x speed) of the sea bed of the sampling station from my PhD research project. The second part (in 4x speed) is the camera placed in front of a Feather Duster Worm (Spirographis spallanzani) while I am taking a sample for my research. Unfortunately the focus is terrible although it is still possible to watch the worm getting out from its tube to feed.
The film was shot with 1080p resolution and 30 fps (r5 setting of the camera) at a depth of 4 m.
is this with the flat lens?
