@EliteExtra It's to build explosiveness and power. The negative (eccentric phase) is for bodybuilders as it does microtear to your muscles. You don't need the negative for powerlifting and power.

I do something similar that works really well, more for aesthetic reasons than strength training like Tate's showing there. So do your set of standing curls not quite to failure then sit down do a set of curls to failure. Slow negative and explode up. To make it quite a bit harder don't let the bar touch your legs, then once you've reached failure rest on quads and try and get a couple of extra reps out. My interpretation of 'Bicep hell', haha.

what is the reason for doing them like that? With no concentration on the negative and the positive done dynamically?
