This video is a sociopolitical reflection on life in many Northern Ireland villages in the 1990's. It is filmed by Patrick Treacy and is one of a series on his home village, Garrison in Co. Fermanagh . The song "Save the Last Dance for Me" was written Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, first recorded in 1960 by Ben E. King and The Drifters. THe background track is sung here by the Canadian jazz crooner Michael Bublé

  • Hi,thanks forcommens. Who are you andwhere are you from? You have some interesting vids!

  • It would be great to see them!! I'm 28 now do you know roughly how long ago this dance took place?? I was probably only a twinkle in my parents eye at that stage or maybe not......

  • I was with your father the night he decided to get married to your mum. We chatted about tihngs in his car until 4.30 in the morning. So there..!

  • This is absolutely fantastic. Its great to see my mum & dad (Patsy & Mary Mulrone) strutting their stuff!!!! I love seeing footage from years ago!!

    Thanks for that!!!! :o)

    Patricia Mulrone

  • Thanks Patricia

I used to go to dances with your dad. May have a few more Garrison ones from the period.

  • What a wonderful video - so lovely to see so many familiar faces and many who have since departed....I remember that night very well - we had a lot of fun! Monica & Eugene (Mom & Dad) look great chilling out along the wall. Garrison was a great place to grow up.

  • Thank you. Hopefully the video captures some of that ethos respectfully. It was wonderful with a sense of community that I have never encountered anywhere in the world. I suppose no-one really knew how well they had it. I have a few more videos and may slip them in from time to time
