Belle & Sebastian's latest record follows suit with nearly everything they've done in the past. It's loaded with light and easygoing pop songs that make the perfect soundtrack for flying a kite or painting with watercolors.
The unfortunate problem is much of this album sounds far too close to the releases preceding it. It's got some great pieces of songwriting here and there, but nothing to make it stand out as a significant peak in the band's fourteen years of material.
What do you think of this LP? Love it? Hate it? Why? Is it the best thing you've heard all year? Is it the best thing you've heard from B&S?
6/10

Review Cleric - Regressions! Just give it a chance! I bet you'll enjoy it! Just listen to the album in it's entirety once!! You [probably] won't regret it!!

Nice review, but comparing "The Ghost Of Rockschool" to the Velvet Underground converting to christianity will give people the wrong impression that they are indeed a christian band, which (as far as I know) they aren't. Still despite that, liked this a lot and I agree that that track did grow on me, so much as to become my favourite from the album!

@MrChipmunkMobian same! i love Dear Catastrophe Waitress and Life Pursuit albums the most, just because i happen to love nearly all tracks on them, and not just a few.
i do like their new record. although the only track that i fell in love with straight from the beginning was I Want the World Stop (which still is my favorite), there's other songs that are growing on me more and more: Come on Sister, I Didn't See it Coming, Ghost of Rockschool and of course, Little Lou.

I can never decide which I like best from Tigermilk, Sinister and Arab Strap. I guess my favourite on Write about Love is I Can See Your Future.
