John Legend / Roots review: http://bit.ly/d9IGqm

Belle & Sebastian's latest record follows suit with nearly everything they've done in the past. It's loaded with light and easygoing pop songs that make the perfect soundtrack for flying a kite or painting with watercolors.

The unfortunate problem is much of this album sounds far too close to the releases preceding it. It's got some great pieces of songwriting here and there, but nothing to make it stand out as a significant peak in the band's fourteen years of material.

What do you think of this LP? Love it? Hate it? Why? Is it the best thing you've heard all year? Is it the best thing you've heard from B&S?

6/10

  • Best album- dear catastrophe waitress

Best song- 'Your cover's blown' from the books EP

  • Favorite Album: Dear Catastrophe Waitress or The Life Pursuit not sure which I love the songs like Act of the Apostles from the Life Pursuit but Piazza is one of my favorite songs ever.

my favorite song off this album is I want the world to stop just for that catchy bass line :)

  • I dont even know who this band is, im just making sure you know that i think your a fucker...fuck head. Fuckin fuck. Fuck you.

  • Review Cleric - Regressions! Just give it a chance! I bet you'll enjoy it! Just listen to the album in it's entirety once!! You [probably] won't regret it!!

  • Nice review, but comparing "The Ghost Of Rockschool" to the Velvet Underground converting to christianity will give people the wrong impression that they are indeed a christian band, which (as far as I know) they aren't. Still despite that, liked this a lot and I agree that that track did grow on me, so much as to become my favourite from the album!

  • i fell completely in love with If Your Feeling Sinister. now trying the rest out.

  • You are a great reviewer. I love this album and agree with most of your critique. Rock on!

  • Best album : Dear Catasrophe Waitress

Best song on this new album (Write About Love) : The Ghost Of Rockschool

  • @MrChipmunkMobian same! i love Dear Catastrophe Waitress and Life Pursuit albums the most, just because i happen to love nearly all tracks on them, and not just a few.

i do like their new record. although the only track that i fell in love with straight from the beginning was I Want the World Stop (which still is my favorite), there's other songs that are growing on me more and more: Come on Sister, I Didn't See it Coming, Ghost of Rockschool and of course, Little Lou.

  • I can never decide which I like best from Tigermilk, Sinister and Arab Strap. I guess my favourite on Write about Love is I Can See Your Future.
