For anybody to make a public comment about 'slow learners' is a display of ignorance. For the Minister of Education to make this comment, in the Dáil, when reading from a prepared script is unforgivable and unacceptable. It is a matter which warrants a public apology at the very least from Ruairi Quinn. It is an insult to all pupils nationwide who often struggle to learn in the traditional method but who make great strides when given access to good teaching AND ENCOURAGEMENT!
only 71% of the budget is spent on teachers salaries and pensions. Along with all the admin staff and other staff.
Your reference to 'slow learners' is an insult.
People who find it difficult to learn, who learn more slowly than others, are not responsible for their difficulties. It is not something of which they should be ashamed. Using the term as an insult suggests that it is something of which people ought to be ashamed.
