This is my cover of the Intro sweep arpeggios from the epic song "Lethean" by Mutiny Within. This song features on the the bands' self titled debut album... so if you haven't already, then check them out now!

I worked this out by ear and it's pretty bloody tricky! Awesome practice though, and it sounds sick!

Thanks for checking out the video!... And please subscribe if you liked my playing! :)

  • I've been doing sweep picking for awhile now, but its all been kind of "standard triad style" or "Paul Gilbertish"...I was wondering what exactly are these guys playing in their sweeps. I want to learn more advanced stuff. Thanks, bro. And great job, btw.

  • @MusicianofStark Thanks man! These shapes are pretty standard (Root, 3rd, 5th triad stuff) used over two or three octaves and occasionally adding notes like a #5th for that slightly more 'evil' sound. It also moves the same two chord progression up a minor third (3 frets higher) which gives that spacey kind of sound to it. To learn more advanced stuff I would just advise looking for vids here on youtube and learning solos that use sweep picking that you think sounds cool...Then experiment :D

  • hey, do you have the tab for this? because ive looked everywhwere for it. i want to learn the beginning part of this song, just for learning purposes :P im learning sweeps

  • @taytanash I'm afraid I don't have a tab, no. I worked it all out by ear and then recorded it straight up. This sweep pattern is pretty advanced though (mostly due to the speed of it) so if you are just starting out with sweep picking it's probably best to find some videos here on youtube to get you started with easy patterns.

I might be able to tab out this sweep pattern at some point soon in powertab format though. Or maybe even make an instructional vid... we'll see!

  • You make my brain melt.

  • @SmashThatHead Haha, thanks! That's what I aim for :D

  • How the fuck do you do that...

  • Fuckin sick man. I still have problem sweeping and I attempted this at .25 speed and did it but couldnt even reach half speed without messing up.

Great job man! Any tips to get better at sweeping? Other then practice? haha

  • It's a lot easier than it looks

  • wicked man. check out my cover!

  • @bodhardcore standard. Mutiny within uses 7 string guitars, so they have the low B to make it sound like its drop tuned.

  • great cover sounds amazing thx for putting it up =)

  • @BenjaminEllisMusic Holy shit dude, did you study music theory or something? That was pretty advanced speak for a self-taught.

  • @bodhardcore the recorded version is drop c, live they play drop b

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
