Hanshin Tigers vs. Tokyo Yakult Swallows, Oct. 5, 2010 at Meiji Jingu Stadium in Tokyo. I had no idea who Matt Murton was when I took this video. And I certainly had no idea he was about to break a major Japanese baseball record in this at bat. So I was a little surprised when the opposing team's mascot ran out and presented him with flowers. I just wanted to capture the awesome atmosphere created by fans of the Hanshin Tigers (who, by the way, were the visiting team for this game). They sing a different song for each player in the lineup. Hanshin won 17-4.

  • @seanrulez1 Im agree with you budy !!!! ...

  • He was a nobody in the bigs his first time, but after watching him in Japan I think he should give the Majors another chance.

  • The Cubs should've kept him to play left field instead of Soriano.

  • Matt Murton's cheer is my favorite.

  • So cool. I'm going to a Yomiuri Giants vs. Hanshin Tigers game tonight at Koushien stadium. Very excited.

    Retsugoooo!!! =D

  • Matt Murton, former Chicago Cub. Congrats MONEY MATT MURTON!

  • Oh man, You know if I had a choice, I'd rather play in japan. Every game must feel like an accomplishment for those players. Every game is like the World Series. I went to a game there and hugged somebody I didn't even know. That's how much the game is awesome there.

  • Looked this up after reading a piece on Murton on ESPN's site. He seems like a good guy.

  • @craum2002 good for you. but you have Bret Harper now. it will be fun to watch how he does next season along with Murton and Brazell to name a few.

  • @SMTP2008 good point. his humble character was the key ingredient for his success. too bad the pennant ended little early though.
