  • @tgtrains WHEN ???

  • Ah paris et ses métro :D

  • I've been to Paris twice (my last trip was eight years ago), and it seems like the RER is as much underground as the Metro is. Even the trains (door closing alert included) sound the same. I also compare the RER with Boston's Commuter Rail (they both go outside their main cities). And let me say for the record, that the Paris system is much quieter than Boston's!

  • The Chatelet RER Station is a brilliant station. What an amazing way to bring three busy commuter trunk lines together underground. Instead of having multiple platforms on multiple levels they combined them all in one giant cross platform interchange station. Centrally located and connected to numerous metro lines, it truly is the definitive transit hub of Paris.

  • @Jonathan5742 same. the only double deckers ive been on are Line D twice and Line E twice

  • @manison7 Oh please. The Paris Metro is way better than the NYC subway. In NY, trains are dirty and overcrowded. There are rats all over the platform. Bums urinate (and sometimes defecate) at the ends of the platform. The trains in Paris are so much cleaner. You Europeans are spoiled.

  • @Jonathan5742 I agree. Nothing makes sense in Paris. Their language doesn't even have unique words for the numbers 70, 80, and 90. Also the trains lack ventilation, they're frequently late, they run every 6-10 minutes in rush hour, and there are routine strikes. Also, they run on holiday hours during the entire month of August (their NORMAL hours are worse than American holiday hours)

  • I agree Jonathan. So many things about the RER/Metro system in Paris don't make sense, and if you ask the staff, you'll never get a meaningful answer. For one, each RER line is run by a completely different company. My friend left his laptop on the RER B and transferred to the RER A; when he realized his laptop was missing, he approached the RER A security desk, but they refused to even try to help him, because it was on a different subway line.

  • Tu dois prendre la ligne D pour dire ça non ?

  • I was in Paris 7 years ago and never saw the double decker cars in the RER. I only rode on it once though.
