Just showing how cool the Roland R8 sequencer is. Many just use it as a straight ahead drum machine, but it's when you start doing realtime pitch/decay/pan/nuance/velocity editing that it becomes cool.
Pitching and changing the pan and decay of the individual sounds after they have been recorded.
I used this zillions of times with Andrea Parker for her stuff and remixes we did and for my own stuff. I know the guys from Autechre and many other artists used one . Great box.
The R8 MKII has more built in sounds and more memory. Worth finding over the MKI version.
Cool. How do I get my R8 doing this? I have no Idea.

@Bobaine whilst in record mode and with a pattern playing press the page button (between the cursors) and then the select button (between + and - ) to choose a function like pan or vel or pitch. Then press and hold the drum pad you want to edit and move the data slider. It will record your movements

what drum sounds are you using here?
what can you say of the Tr-909 ROM Sounds - comparable to the original ones?
thanks a lot!

@lancelotdulacful Hi
These are the built in sounds and I think they are great but it's not really a perfect 909 sample. Different but nice.

Sounds great, did you use stock sounds or any particular rom in this video? Thanks

@themodularmodular Thx
I used the built in sounds. On the MK 1 you need some ROMS, on the MKII it has quite a few of the cool sounds from the cards.
