I did it. I learned it by ear. I'm astonished I found out the solo after struggling for a while. My ambition got me to learn the solo. This video there's no mistakes. It took me a while because I stutter when I'm on camera when I have to talk. I don't know why. I guess I just have to plan out what I'm saying more. I feel like I'm talking to myself. Which is shown to the world, so I guess that's why I stutter. If I had lines I probably wouldn't stutter.

I finally tabbed out the song! Here it is:

Verse 1:
E String: Fret 1 (2x)
A String: Fret 1 (2x)

Do this 3 times and then: A String Fret 3 (2x)

You can open on E string to redo the verse a 2nd time or you can bend the 12th fret on the B and G strings. Bend the strings at the right time. You have to use your ear for that part.

Chorus:
E String: Fret 1 (2x)
A String: Fret 1 (2x)
A String: Fret 3 (2x)
A String: Fret 1 (2x)
E String: Fret 1 (2x)
A String: Fret 1 (2x)
A String: Fret 3 (2x)

Open E or 12th fret bend

Repeat

Solo 1:
B String: Fret 6, 4

G String: Fret 5, 3, 3, Hammer to 4, Pull off to 3, 1

B String: Fret 6, 4

G String: Fret 5

e String: Fret 4

B String: Fret 6

B String: Fret 6, 4

G String: Fret 5, 3, 3, Hammer to 4, Pull off to 3, 1

I'm not sure with the bridge. I just did this:
Bridge:
D string stays on the 3rd fret while the G string frets are:
,2, 2, 3, 3, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 3, 3

Think of the commas as the D String

Verse Frets

Chorus Frets

Rivers Cuomo: BEVERLY HILLS!!!

2nd Solo:

e String: 13th fret then

B String is 13th fret and e String is 11th fret: 13 11 13, 13 11 13,

Think of the commas up top as a pause.

13th fret and 11th fret just play the frets 5 times. Then:

B String: Fret 11 (3x), 9 (2x)

G String: Fret 10

B String: Fret 9

G String: Fret 10

e String: Fret 13, 13, 11

B String: Fret: 13, 11, 11, 9, 11, 11, 9

G String: Fret: 10

B String: Fret: 9

G String: Fret 10, 10

B String: Fret: 9, 11, 9

G String: Fret: 10

B String: Fret 9, 11, 11, 9, 11, 9

G String: Fret 10, 10

B String: Fret 9

G String: Fret 10, 8, 10, 10, (pause or ring after that fret then) 10

B String: Fret 9

LIVIN' IN BEVERLY HILLS...

End with E String: Fret 1

  • Great solo mate keep playing can't believe u figured that out by ear! great job.

  • Thanks, man.

  • were u using a wawa pedal of was there a wawa setting on your amp?

  • I didn't use anything. It was just my guitar. It was late in the night, so I couldn't be loud. lol. I don't have a wawa pedal, but I wish I did. The solo would sound much better if it did.
