In 1999 I visited the wartime airfield known as RAF Twinwood Farm, near Bedford England. I was particularly interested in seeing what remain of the old Control Tower where Glenn Miller on that foggy day on 15th December 1944 was waiting for his aircraft to pick him up and fly him to France. This place the last place where Glenn Miller was seen, never to be seen again. The film shows what the control tower was like in 1999 before renovation were made and is now a memorial and exhibition in recognition of the RAF and Glenn Miller.

  • If you go to 'Glenn Miller museum' video you will see that the control tower was restored in 2003 and is now open every year to visitors.

  • The Co-Partners Hall has been demolished, was at the time a recreational hall, owned by the Gas Board. The BBC used this for many Miller Broadcasts.

  • It's a shame that nobody has restored that Tower to it's original condition. You can almost feel the tension and stress in those empty walls.

  • I visited Co Partners Hall with 'Peanuts' Hucko in 1991.Although part of Charles Wells Brewery, the room where the band did so many recordings was still intact but if I remember correctly,it was partly sectioned into office space. It was part of the local gas works in 1944.We also visited Twin Woods Farm and Bedford Corn Exchange where we played that evening..Wonderful memories.Has Co Partners hall definately been demolished? What a shame if correct. It should have been preserved.

  • glenn and other US entertainers did alot of broadcasting from Co- partners hall. Its now demolished but it stood where the Charles Wells brewery now is

  • Wow.

    This is amazing.

Just think of the history that this place has.

It must have been quite a feeling to walk the last steps of Glenn Miller's life.
