Drugs or Me: Veronica Mars

AU: Veronica Mars and Logan Echolls are sixteen-year old high school sweethearts who are crushed by the recent accidental death of their close friend, Lily Kane. As a result of the trauma, Veronica turns to drugs, eventually spiraling into an addiction that threatens her life, her relationship, and her future.

Lily Kane has died in a horrible [unspecified] accident. Veronica and her high school sweetheart, Logan, are crushed. Veronica, unable to ignore the memories of her best friend, quickly falls into a world of drug and alcohol addiction. Logan first learns of her problem while watching her stumble around, drugged, at a party. However, Logan stays faithful to Veronica and tries to continue their relationship, hoping her drug will soon fade. One night, Veronica overdoses and collapses in a parking garage, where Logan finds her and saves her life. As he holds her, he thinks back over the last few months and finally realized just how different his girlfriend has become. After recovering from her overdose, Veronica goes to Logan and pledges to stay clean because she loves him. The reunion is short-lived, however, because Veronica finds herself again unable to shake the memories of Lily. Veronica gets back into her old habits, often getting so high that she wakes up in the morning without memories of the previous night. Soon after, Logan finds out and scolds Veronica, angry that she has lied to him yet again. Distraught by this, Veronica gets high and then later gets into a car, even agreeing to give a ride to Logan's estranged father, Aaron. Veronica crashes the car, and while she is relatively uninjured, Aaron dies. Her actions hurt many people, her boyfriend, her friends, and Aaron's best friend, Jake Kane. After the accident, Veronica reflects on the past year of her life, realizing the horrible mistakes she has made. She goes to Logan and they talk, eventually agreeing to reconcile, with her promise to get professional help in mind. Veronica's drug abuse ends on a somber note--she is unable to sleep, continually plagued by guilt over Aaron's death. The video then picks up one year later, to show that Veronica has been successful in getting clean and is now graduating, surprised by the love and support from her friends and family.
