I often get asked about what I do during my summers. Here is one thing we did on a Friday afternoon and then I spent about three days editing it.

We went around town for a couple hours taping the ball bouncing off things. My son provided some unexpected percussion by running through the one shot and accidentally nailing that car in the parking lot. In editing, I only adjusted timing and some volume to set the beats. I didn't "fake" any sounds by putting a different sound behind the image. Except for the camera getting smacked in the last second, if it looks like the ball hit an object to make the beat, that's the real sound at that moment. Some shots were added over top of the beat and are clearly not providing any audio.

  • Well, I did forget to check for a dent in that car--but that was an accident. Nothing was intentionally harmed. We did lose one ball. You'll notice my juggling went from three to two.
