SON-OF-GUN; JUST MADE IT!!! As stated above in 1956 "Cindy, Oh Cindy" peaked at No. 10 thus just making the Billboard's Top 10 and it spent a total of 19 weeks in the Top 100...
Also in 1956 Vince Martin with The Tarriers peaked one position higher {No. 9} than Mr. Fisher with their version of this song, and it also spent 19 weeks in the Top 100...
This song will never sound the same after seeing the House On The Edge Of The Park (1980). This song was used so brutally that it deforms the meaning of the lyrics.
This hit by Eddie Fisher went to #10 on the Top 40 charts and #5 in the United Kingdom. It would finish at #58 for the year, 1956. On July 9, 1955, Bill Haley and His Comets hit #1 with Rock Around the Clock, signifying the start of the Rock Era. Then, on April 21, 1956, Elvis Presley hit #1 with Heartbreak Hotel, shooting this new sound into the stratosphere.
Born in Feb 1957 my dad was a Navy man. Mom wanted a different name, but dad won and this is the song I was named for....dad passed 1992. This is for him. Love ya dad.
i m born in 54 , became father of a daughter in 1982 and called her Cindy , she was not happy with her name , until she heard on the radio Margot Eskens with her cover cindy o cindy , i do not know who wroten this song , the lyrics were diffirent , the German Cindy is unhappy , her boy friend is gone and Eddie loves my daughter :-)))
i have the record which i pinched in the early 60's from my uncle ken who was in the merchant navy at the time!! i was born in 1954 but love most music from the 50's till now

I had this record when I was a kindergartner in the 1950's; it was a yellow 78-rpm single.
Where have the years gone?
