Gift of Traditional Martial Arts - True Legacy of the Ninja

Gift of Traditional Martial Arts is an exciting and thought provoking testament to the power of studying "Kobudo" - the ancient unarmed and weapon arts of the Ninja and Samurai.

Packed with never-before-seen martial arts techniques, this movie weaves seamlessly between the way of the sword and the way of peace.

From empowering a woman who lived in fear after being robbed at gun-point, to saving a spinal cord injury survivor who lost his will to live; this movie illustrates just how a 2000 year old Asian discipline of self defense has inspired and transformed thousands of lives.

Cable and movies are filled with overly-violent shows which glorify aggressive behavior. This movie is refreshingly different and uses the deadly fighting arts of the past to inspire rather than injure.

It documents the incredible benefits true, traditional martial arts can give to society and shows the public the once-secret world of the oldest Japanese traditional style of defense. - It is an awesome collection of movements, ideas, information and emotions.

Soke Shoto Tanemura, Kyoshi Michael Coleman, Kyoshi Gary Giamboi & Renshi Neil Biondich

  • Dear Mr. Coleman,

I received the DVD of your film today and just finished watching it. I simply want you to know that it was a wonderful and inspiring film. It speaks to people in

general about the benefit that martial arts have to offer people. - I was especially touched by the story of your student with the spinal-cord injury. He inspired me with his show of what true courage, commitment, perseverance & love can do to overcome obstacles in life. He is a role-model for us all!

  • Kyoshi Coleman already had his godan prior to that clip of him avoiding the shinai. However, you will be hardpressed to see that type of test of sensing the "killing intent" in youtube from another major ninpo organization. In fact, Genbukan has been real good at quality control, as has Jinenkan. The other one, leaves much to be desired and it is arguably a black belt diploma mill.

  • Hello,

Thank you very much for your interest.

Many people have asked me about this part of the movie, so I'll answer it here.

In the Genbukan we call it the "Kyoshi test", and it is taken after passing all of the technique requirements up to and including Godan Taijutsu, etc. - Actually, I failed this test for three years before finally passing in Japan. In the movie, we show the full ceremony all the way from the traditional bow-in to the bow-out & also in slow motion. - You can judge.

  • @Xadreos

Look at it this way: if you can train your body and mind to deal with a trained man with a sword, a thug with a baseball bat won't be as threatening. It's the same with allot of things you learn in any martial art. You might never, be in that EXACT scenario but training inn such extreme conditions will help you much better. And on top of that, it's there to preserve the traditional system.

  • cool video. Why does Mr. Tanemura, even to this day, consider Takamatsu to be one of his teachers? It's fairly common knowledge that he only met Takamatsu once and that was through Mr. Hatsumi, the primary giver of ninpo knowledge to everyone the world over including Tanemura. Thank you.

  • @Xadreos Try practicing the concept of "association". Not everything is just as it appears. It's not just "dodging a sword", it develops all sorts of other skills. Some NFL lineman practice ballet....it's not to dance. How many guys are gonna attack you with gloves on in a cage? I guess UFC is worthless? Come on, man.

  • that black guy has a really calm soothing voice lol

  • Awesome video!

  • Excellent.
