It used to be, when I was growing up, Walt Disney World had only "nice" rides; horse-drawn carriages, swans, etc. but no real thrill rides.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was one of the first big thrill rides to make its way into the park. Residing in Frontierland, BTMRR is a great coaster that keeps a pretty steady pace throughout, but should not be too much for new roller coaster aficionados.

  • At the beginning, you got the land wrong. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is in FRONTIERland.

  • You are right! D'oh.

  • Nice video of a great WDW ride. A bit of constructive critisism though. Let you're camera be your eye's. What I mean is that you should turn the camera as the train enters the corner. It's like turning a corner in your car, you always look before you enter a curve on the highway right, same pricipal here. I will say your camera gets better indoor (low light) footage than mine does.

  • It would be great if it was that easy? ;-) Great tip and on the slower rides it is certainly easier to lead the eye better.

The centrifugal force on some of the curves ont the faster rides is really hard to compensate for, especially with such a small hand-held cam (Kodak Zi6).

Thinking of trying to DIY a shockmount holder for these videos so I can do more expansive techniques as you mention.

Thanks for watching and taking the time with such great feedback!

  • thats awesome! ive been to wdw 5 x's and have never rode it bc of the lines being too long! i will next month when i go!

  • You have to ride it. One of the great "mountains" at WDW. Next month the lines shouldn't be too bad and you can always do FastPass.
