Part 6 of "Thief" from 1981. Sorry about the short clip, but the video glitches were crashing my Window Movie Maker program. So I had put this first 7 minutes up, then do a few seconds of trimming and post the last 3 minutes, listed as Part 6.1 (seen here).
I might have just left this scene out, had it not been so pivotal to later plot developments. It's also one of the most inadvertently funniest scenes in the movie, as we watch Frank pull every street move he can to try and save the adoption process...even resorting to bridery with a Rolex watch. But all to no avail. This scene is an interesting contrast to the court seen in Part 6.0, where it's very clear that bribery works in the legal/justice system. To be perfectly honest, the same type of stuff probably goes on in the adoption world, it's just a different kind of "bribery" process.
Favorite line: "You got a black kid? We'll take a black kid....You got a chink kid?...No one likes older kids, you got a black, chink, 8 year-old kid? We'll take him!"
