These folks are playing traditional Gangam music in northern Togo. The lady to the left is playing a baobab pod filled with stones.

  • Wow! How is she doing that?

  • I must say it took me two days to learn and I'm a percussionist! One sound is made with the pass to the other hand, then a shake is made up and down with that hand, making two more sounds. Then the same thing happens again in the other direction. All clear! I dropped her pod when practising and cracked it - she was not best pleased!!

  • Hei Drummers,

Look at the sticks they are using carefully. Dont you see a resemblance in the sticks for Trinidad folk drumming? True connection to Africa.

  • Beautiful and unique music. Greetings from New york.
