Cop Blocking OH State Trooper

After lunch we noticed a man pulled over by a Ohio State Trooper. So we decided to film the stop to make sure everyone was held accountable and nothing got out of line. He (cop) quickly releases the guy and comes to question us. He lied to us, about the gun permit, and asked me twice to stop filming. Neither the gun or filming is an illegal action. We stood up for our rights and he quickly ended the encounter.

Other than approaching us, which there was no reason for, and lying the cop respected our rights and left. Maybe that's because we were armed with a camera, knowledge and a gun? http://www.copblock.org

A police officer can approach and question anyone for any reason at any time. You are free to disengage and walk away unless being detained. However, a police officer cannot compel you to show ID (in most states), or answer any questions. Reasonable cause is needed to demand ID and or detain you unless you are on a US waters. 14 USG 89 permits the Coast Guard to board, search, question, investigate, and demand boat documentation for any reason at anytime without probable cause.

Just a tip to help with the camera shudder: Get a piece of string and attach a large metal washer to it. Attach the other end to a camera tripod bold. Screw the bolt into the tripod mount on the camera.

When you are standing while filming, let the washer fall to the ground and put your foot on it. Lifting the camera to pull the string tight will prevent it from shuddering.

When you walk, you can pick up the string so you don't trip over it or even throw it over your shoulder.
